About Brazil

The largest country in South America, Brazil is a favorite destination for travelers from all over the globe. In fact, in recent years it has been ranked fourth for all destinations in South, Central, and North America. What's interesting, perhaps, is that Brazil is also very big on domestic tourism. That is, even people who live in the country love to travel from border to border, experiencing everything the country has to offer. Adventure travel? Not a problem. Ecotourism? Brazil can handle you. History fascinate you? Brazil has a fascinating history indeed.

Rio de Janeiro is the most popular city in Brazil for both domestic and international travelers even though it's the second largest city in the country. The city is well known for its carnivals and other festivities, which typically take over the streets and leave people dancing, laughing, and having a great time. If dancing in the streets is your sort of thing, Rio de Janeiro is the city for you. The city is split into four districts. It's located in Southeast Brazil, next to the Atlantic Ocean.

São Paulo - named after Saint Paul - is another favorite destination. The gothic Metropolitan Sé Cathedral is a big draw. In addition, there are plenty of museums, and a planetarium. The São Paulo area is known for weather that is very unreliable, but that doesn't stop people from coming to the most populous city in the Southern Hemisphere - and the first or second most populous in all of the Americas. If you want to see a truly large city, São Paulo should be on your list of destinations.

While not as well known as the above mentioned cities, the state of Amazonas is home to an immense forest. If you want to see some of the world's last untapped natural resources, this state in the Northeast of Brazil is going to be somewhere that you want to visit. Beyond the breathtaking beauty of the landscape, this is one of the most biologically diverse places on the planet, with hundreds of land mammals, thousands of fish, and thousands of different types of birds, this part of Brazil is one of the best places on the planet to see a variety of wildlife all in one place.

If you have ever dreamed about taking an adventure vacation in South America, Brazil should be at the top of your list of destinations. Even if you just use the country as a base of operations for your fun and adventure in the Southern Hemisphere, it makes sense to check out the details. Brazil has ancient ruins, beautiful unspoiled land, and marvelous large cities - more than enough to whet your appetite. If you want to see the Amazon or the rainforest while it's still around, now's the time to take a trip to Brazil. You're likely to find that you like it so much you'll be back more than once if possible.
